Marion Nichols Award Nominations Open

Nominations for the 2018 Marion Nichols Caring Service Award are now open. Please use this form: 2018 Marion Nichols Award Nomination. Marion L. Nichols was a service provider and advocate for low-income and homeless persons in Kansas. She spent the last 28 years of her life serving the people of south central Kansas with a fierce desire to help people move from poverty to self-sufficiency through a variety of housing, nutrition, health and job training programs. Marion also served on the Board of the Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition. The Marion Nichols Caring Service Award was established to honor Marion’s memory by recognizing Kansans with a similar passion and commitment to serve above and beyond their normal work duties. Nominees should serve in a direct service or administrative capacity to promote self-sufficiency in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner. The award will be presented at the 2018 Kansas Housing Conference: Bringing Kansas Home September 12-14 in Topeka, Kansas. 2018 NOFA Timeline & Letter of Intent

The NOFA Committee has completed the 2018 NOFA Timeline and NOFA Letter of Intent 2018 (due 7/18 @ 5:00 pm) for the 2018 CoC Competition. We encourage you to submit the Letter of Intent prior to the deadline if possible.
Please note the due dates on the timeline. Reference the NOFA as you fill out the Letters of Intent. We will provide training to the CoC related to key items in the NOFA that will help us be successful as a CoC system as well as with individual applications. It is imperative that you read and understand the NOFA.

This Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) establishes the funding criteria for the FY 2018 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program. https://tinyurl.com/yacpnpkw HUD is making available approximately $2 billion in Fiscal Year 2018 for the CoC Program. The CoC Program is designed to promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; to provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, States, and local governments to quickly re-house homeless individuals, families, persons fleeing domestic violence, and youth while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness; to promote access to and effective utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families; and to optimize self-sufficiency among those experiencing homelessness. The FY 2018 CoC Program Competition opened on June 20, 2018. The competition will close on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 8:00 PM EDT. For more information on applying with the Balance of State of Kansas CoC, please email kwatson@kshomeless.com.
